Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park is famed for its large elephant herds and breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro across the border in Tanzania. Open plains, swamps and acacia woodland support lion, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and over 400 bird species.

The park's name comes from the Maasai word "Empusel" - salty dust - referring to the alkaline lake bed that attracts flamingos and waterfowl in season. Observation Hill offers panoramic views over the entire ecosystem.

Amboseli pairs perfectly with the Maasai Mara or a Tanzania northern circuit extension, with easy access from Nairobi or cross-border from Arusha.
